Using them as pet food is also killing them. I don't see the morality here.

Roaches come from having a dirty home you know that right ?

Yeah, that's what I mean. They are kind of like rats in that aspect. They are given a bad reputation from their natural behaviors, yet some keep them as pets.

I think there is a purpose in nature for them. However, they have a bad rep - mainly because they take over. I mean, they literally stare at you with no fear.
Only half a dozen out of the approximately 4,500 described species of cockroaches are capable of being indoor pests, they make up less than 1% of all roach species!!! The rest live outdoors in various habitats, jungles, deserts, you name it! Many of them are quite beautiful, take Eucorydia aenea or Polyzosteria mitchelli for example. Because of their inability to become pests and the attractive coloration or shapes of many roaches, there are a large number of people keeping them as pets these days, who can see past the negative stigma associated with the word "Cockroach".

Why are you here then? I don't go onto the other invertebrate subforums saying negative things about said invertebrates. I am terrified of wasps, and really dislike them, but I don't go over to the Bees, Wasps & Ants subforum spewing hateful comments about them! Moreover, I respect their place in nature, and don't go out of my way to harm them.
The few pest roaches that infest houses and can cause health problems are obviously bad news, and I wouldn't want them in my house either! But the majority of roach species on this planet live outdoors, and are very interesting creatures worthy of our respect! If you feel otherwise, then please keep such thoughts to yourself, and out of the COCKROACH subforum. I mean honestly, it's just common courtesy...

As hisserdude has stated, there is very few that infest your houses. There is a lot of species that are just marvelous and truly amazing to observe. People are too quick to say, "ew" when they hear the word cockroach. I would kill the species that infests if I found them around my house too. But, there is alot of interesting species. It's kind of like bees. Everyone "hates" bees and I too would kill wasps, but certainly you wouldn't go stepping on honey bees considering their usefulness. Although your probably thinking this is a poor example, since honey bee's serve a very important purpose, however it's a similar case with cockroaches. What you and cessepedes are trying to do, is judge all cockroaches off one species as a whole. That would be like judging all humans off of one guy who robbed a bank.
Do these guys look harmful to you? And yes, those are cockroaches!

Indeed! And cockroaches have an important role in nature as detritivores, they help to break down decaying organic matter, which is an underrated but very important process.

My apologies. I removed my post. I honestly was not aware there were other types of roaches besides the "household" variety. I am sorry if I caused any offense.

If you don't like them, then stay out of this subforum. No need to upset or anger those who enjoy keeping them.
