I thought I would try a little moist dry cat food for my Dynastes t. L 3`s.
They have plenty of rotten oak wood and such from the forest, so would this be advisable or just let be? They look fat and healthy so far.

I would give it to them in a small amount and somewhere you could get it back easily to avoid mold.

I was thinking an empty clean soup can placed horizontal down in the substrate a little. Place the food towards the back, I think most of it would stay in the can and you could remove and empty the container easy.

Yeah, that might work. Just be sure it's easily accessible with no edges or you bury it a little in the substrate.. Otherwise they may have issues getting in or out.

I feed mine a high protein cat food from L1 to L3. They won't touch it until it molds. I place two piles towards the bottom and up against the side of the container. Each pile is about a teaspoon full. I replace it after it's gone. You will grow mites if you use it.

Haven`t tried the cat food yet, so far the rich moist substrate, one banana, and mushrooms, the type people eat has kept them very nice and plump.
Not sure I need any mites, we have plenty of red bug mites, sometimes called chiggers, LOL
I may or may not try the cat food.
Thanks for the opinions.
