I took this a little after midnight in a spot in the woods. My light went out on the journey back so I was stuck walking back in the dark tripping over just about everything. Rolling Eyes

I took this video, three days after the first in the same spot. It is significantly louder. In fact the sound kind of rings in your ears now.

With all the global warming it seems that in Tennessee, it's  happening later every year.  I remember a big chirping around Christmas.

Yeah, you generally don't hear them around here until Mid-April. They definetly made an early appearance.

We have the frogs chirping now, the insects seem to be a little confused and some (wasp) out looking for a place to build a nest so it seems. I noticed the blue birds hanging around the spring nest boxes we provide. The temp did cool down a little today from the mid to upper eighties yesterday. The winters are not as cold anymore.
Some article I read said that certain insect species are on a decline because of man made events, and that could take in a huge category of problems. Not much seems to slow down fire ants.

Yeah it really is getting warmer during winter. It's getting into freezing temperature's here now, so I won't here that noise for a few months now.
