Found this (what i believe to be) girl while down in florida. Hope to raise it to an adult.
Collected on 11/25/16

I'm a bit clueless as of what to feed her. I should have grabbed some leaf litter or dead wood while in florida as well. Will she be fine eating northern wood? oak and maple? She was collected in the florida keys were salt and calcium content are much higher.

Here's a picture and a video.

They are almost as cool as the hercules beetle. Wink Do you plan on keeping the beetle once it turns into a beetle?

I dont have any rotting wood right now, nor do i know how to induce rot. So, i had to do some experimenting. I gave my little girl some organic baby spinach and she likes it.

Unfortunately this girl didn't survive. I found bites from various food that i introduced, maybe she just wasnt eating enough? More then likely not getting enough nutrients, im not sure.

Sorry to hear it, I was hoping to see it as a adult.

Thank you guys. I am happy to have gotten such a nice pic. I am upset that i wild collected it, and it didn't make it past larva stage. Wouldn't be as upset as i would if i bought it.
