Hello, I have heard of people starting honey bee colonies like out of there sheds? Does anyone know how to go about doing this? Where do you get the queen? What are you supposed to keep them in? I assume the nest has to lead outdoors so how do you keep the queen from leaving the nest?

I saw on a show where a bee guy came and took care of a hive in someone's house. He used a shop-vac to gather all the bees, he verified that he had the queen, then said he would set them back up on his honey farm. Then he have the residents the honeycomb from their unwelcomed bees.
My point is, maybe talk to a local bee person/exterminator, maybe they will give you the bees or queen from an unwanted hive they deal with in the future...
